User Research and Testing

Optimize your site based on data

User research before a site build, and user testing after provides critical, data-driven insights to continually improve your site.

We send a  custom survey to a representative sample of your audience. They generally have a week or two to complete it. We analyze the results and provide recommendations.

This allows people to organize items into groups, revealing how people sort ideas into categories. We might use this to create a navigation menu, for example, based on how people think about your content.

Tree tests show you if the Information Architecture or menu structure of a site is intuitive or not.  We present the user with a “tree” of information—representative of how your site menu would be laid out—and ask them to find specific items.

A user is assigned a task and sent to a webpage. The goal is to determine if they are able to easily click on the right button or link to achieve the goal.

A user is given a short amount of time, maybe 10 seconds, to review a web page or part of a web page. They are then asked to explain what the page is about. The test determines how easy it is to understand what’s on the page.

A heatmap uses color coding to show “hot” and “cold” areas of a webpage. It can show how far down a page people scroll, what part of the page is most popular, and how much something is clicked on (ask us about “rage clicks” !!!)
